Special Workshop Title: East Asian Jurisprudence

Paper Title: Search for East Asian Jurisprudence of Human Rights
Abstract: On the other hand, it is claimed that 21st century is the age of universalization and internationalization of human rights. Amongst the worldwide globalization trend and subsequent multicultural movement, we explore for feasibility of East Asian Jurisprudence of Human Rights. Based on the advocacy of “Relativity of Asian Human Rights” arisen in the nineties, it is expected the building of Jurisprudence of Human Rights, which is worthy of academic debate.

In the report, we discuss the following;

1. By reflecting controversial points of universal human rights so far, we clearly recognize historical significance of human rights and define a historical role of East Asian Human Rights.

2. Internationalization of economics and information accelerates changes in structures of countries and affects framework of sovereign nations. Therefore, we need to establish human rights inherent in East Asia.

3. We need to introduce historical and cultural normative value inherent to East Asia on the basis of the world wide multiculturalism. We are requested to develop conception of human rights based on historical reflection appropriate to human respect inherent to East Asian.
