The Delegation of IVR Executive Committee visited China from October 10th to 15th, 2004. They met the leaders of the China Law Society and Jurisprudence Institute of Chinese Law Society and discussed the possibility of IVR international conference held in China in 2009. They also visited Jilin University, the Jurisprudence Research Center of Jilin University, and Peking University. The members of the Delegation were: Prof. Aleksander Peczenik of Lund University in Sweden, Chairman of IVR; Prof. Morigiwa Yasutomo of Nagoya University in Japan, Vice-Chairman of IVR; Prof. Alexander Broestl, Judge of Slovak Constitutional Court; Prof. Choi Chongko of Seoul National University in Korea; Prof. Burton Leiser of Pace University in American and Prof. Marek Zirk-Sadowski of University of Lodz in Poland.

The Delegation met with Prof. Zhang Wenxian, Director of the Juris-prudence Research Center, Director of Committee of Directors of Jilin University and the member of Executive Committee of IVR and discussed the issue of IVR international conference held in China in 2009. Prof. Aleksander Peczenik delivered a speech on “Basic topics of jurisprudence to-day” later during the visit. The delegation and Prof. Zhang Wenxian held an academic discussion with the students of Jilin University Law School also.

On Oct. 14th, The Delegation met the leaders of Jurisprudence Institute of Chinese Law Society in the Institute of Legal Science of Chinese Academy of Social Science (CASS) organized by Prof. Liu Zuoxiang. In the afternoon of the same day, all members of the delegation visited Peking University Law School and gave lectures hosted by Prof. ZHANG Qi. The speakers and the subjects of their talks for each were: Prof. Aleksander Peczenik, “theories of legal argumentation”; Prof. Choi Chongko, "legal argumentation from an Asian perspective"; Prof. Morigiwa Yasutomo, “the practicing legal validity”; Prof. Marek Zirk-Sadowski“transformation and integration of legal systems”; Prof. Alexander Broestl, “argumentation by principles in constitutional law”; Prof. Burton Leiser, “homosexual marriage and other fundamental legal controversies in the United States”.
