This volume begins the publication of selected plenary lectures delivered at the 21st IVR World Congress "Law and Politics—In Search of Balance". These papers offer a tableau of the issues and lines of research presented and discussed in the course of these fruitful exchanges. The volume also concludes the publication of the papers discussed during the seminars held at the University of Lund Faculty of Law and during the workshop in the philosophy of law at the 4th European Congress for Analytical Philosophy (ECAP).

On "Law and Politics", this volume includes contributions to the IVR Congress by Roger Cotterrell, Susan Haack, Cristina Lafont, Philip Pettit and Richard A. Posner.

On "Coherentist Approaches to the Law", this volume includes contributions to the ECAP by Christian Dahlman, Jaap Hage, Aleksander Peczenik, Henry Prakken and Giovanni Sartor.
